In 2017, I had a breakdown.

I dealt with that breakdown, but buying as much music from 2016 as I possibly could.

As a result, I now own over 600 albums that came out in 2016, and I'm convinced it's the greatest year for music of all time.

Many people would regard Black Star as the first excellent album of 2016.

Not me, obviously.

I'm aware that brilliant albums came out on the 1st of January 2016.

But I will concede this is the first big one and the first one that got my attention as well.

This is David Bowie's final ever album.

He died just two days after the album was released.

Nobody knew that David Bowie had had liver cancer for the last 18 months leading up to the record.

It was something that he kept private.
