Having headed to the season with his Liverpool future uncertain, not too many would have foreseen that Phillips ending the campaign is one of the red's most heralded players.

0:17.0

Given the extent of the injury crisis at the heart of the Yeogan Club's defence,

0:20.0

it was Phillips who stepped forward,

often putting his body on the line to get the

pull over the line in their race for Champions League qualification.

yeah just sort of like relief and price that we'd managed to do it and achieve what we had set out to do once we realized

1:26.9

that we had to make a bit of a compromise with season with our aspirations.

1:32.3

And if you look back over your season, I think it was what, 20 appearances, 9 clean sheets, a goal and assist,

1:38.0

considering why you've been a year ago, it's remarkable growth from you. It shows like you've really stepped it up and kind of

1:45.4

come good for Liverpool and it's mattered most. Well I think that was it. It was like, obviously, with a situation we were in it felt like one of those situations where like everybody

1:58.0

had to step up no matter who you were and we all just had to group together and bring whatever we could to the side.

2:08.0

So I guess even though I was quite new to a team and new to that level,

2:14.2

there was probably, it felt to me anyway

2:17.2

like I still had a big responsibility amongst the team.
