Here's your closing bell brief from Monday, September 22nd. I'm Catherine Sullivan for the Wall Street Journal.

U.S. stocks rose today with all three major indexes closing at new records.

The NASDAQ led the gains, adding 0.7%, while the S&P 500 was up 0.4%, and the Dow up a tenth of a percent.

The gains were sparked by the announcement that

NVIDIA will invest $100 billion in Open AI to help build out data centers. Invidia's stock was up

about 4%. Markets were otherwise calm as investors looked ahead to a speech from Federal Reserve

Chair Jerome Powell tomorrow and an upcoming inflation report.

Elsewhere, gold futures rallied, treasury yields inched higher, and Bitcoin prices dropped.

Among individual companies, Oracle shares climbed more than 6% after the software company named

a pair of co-CEOs. Shares of Fox Corp rose less than 3% after President Trump suggested

its leaders could invest in TikTok. Fox News and Wall Street Journal Parent News Corp share common

ownership. MetSara's stock surged 61% after pharmaceutical giant Pfizer agreed to acquire the

anti-obesity drug maker. Compass shares fell

nearly 16% after the real estate brokerage agreed to acquire anywhere real estate for $1.6 billion.

And Kenview stock dropped roughly 7.5% following a media report about a potential government

announcement regarding the active ingredient in Tylenol.
