Summary

Today’s word of the day is ‘checkered’ as in the flag as in NASCAR is back. Races will start being held starting on May 17th, but does this mean that more sports will follow (0:06)? LeBron James is back too. He finally speaks out on social media about the NBA and the season. What do I think about his statement (5:58)? Everyone is coming out with their own accounts about what’s happening in The Last Dance. Why does the documentary look the way it does? Who had control over what content is being shown? The answer is very telling, but we all knew that (8:43). Little League World Series was canceled and the economic impact is going to be as devastating as what’s happening in Cooperstown. There are other sad consequences from this decisions so let’s discuss (15:39). Put on your boxing gloves because a fight is breaking out in MLB. The league, players, and now the umps are all involved. This is messy and it's only beginning (20:22). Review - Ordinary People (29:55). So You Wanna Talk To Samson!? Someone asked me, regarding the lawsuit where 7 athletes have sued NCAA alleging negligence in sexual assaults, how much of player actions are known by coaches and ADs (33:45). 27 years ago yesterday, one of the most shocking occurrences ever at a sports event took place. Monica Seles got stabbed during a match. Doesn’t get as much attention as tonya Harding, but was more significant (40:15). MLBeard Challenge Day 47: Golden State Warriors (44:15). Will these NASCAR races go on just as they're supposed to? #waittosee ---------------------------   'Nothing Personal with David Samson' is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Castbox, Bullhorn and wherever else you listen to podcasts.   Follow David on Twitter: @DavidPSamson  To watch David on CBS Sports HQ visit https://www.cbssports.com/live/ To hear more from the CBS Sports Podcast Network, visit https://www.cbssports.com/podcasts/ Learn more about your ad choices. Checkered. Nothing personal word of the day is checkered. As in the checkered flag, I think

0:14.2

we got a checkered flag coming. NASCAR is back. Really? The first sport back, I guess

0:22.3

we could say it was UFC. No, I'm going to say NASCAR. NASCAR announced a return to

0:27.8

racing starting May 17th at Darlington Raceway. Here's a little nugget. No fans. That's normal.

0:37.6

We agree. Let's bring it back with no fans. No practice. Practice. What is this like an

0:47.0

Allen Iverson special? Today not think it's smart to maybe have the drivers have a little

0:53.7

practice? I guess not because it's a one day event. And there will be social distancing.

1:01.0

So that means that only the front left and the back right tire can be changed at the same

1:08.8

time. And then the back right and top left tire can be changed the next time. And if you're

1:17.3

what your windshield cleaned or if you want to get a little spritz of water, it has to be handed

1:22.9

to you on a six foot pole like a survivor challenge. I'm sort of kidding. They didn't talk

1:31.0

about that. How you can have a pit stop with social distancing or a NASCAR race without practicing

1:36.9

and making it a one day event? Well, the vice president, Steve O'Donnell said NASCAR and

1:43.4

its teams are eager and excited to return to racing and have great respect for the responsibility

1:49.4

that comes with a return to competition. NASCAR will return in an environment that will

1:55.4

ensure the safety of our competitors, officials and all those in the local community. We thank

2:02.5

local state and federal officials and medical experts as well as everyone in the industry

2:07.2

for the unprecedented support in our return to racing. And we look forward to joining our

2:12.6

passionate fans in watching cars return to the track. Officials, all those in the local community,

2:21.7

but it's a close track. They've got to let in a few workers. I guess they got to turn the lights

2:26.6

on. They got to somehow get gas. Get the tow trucks with the cars or the flat beds. They didn't

2:33.5

quite explain to me what the pit stops were going to look like. Well, I guess there's political
