My guest this week is Nathan Lewis.

Nathan is a narrative painter originally from Northern California.

Nathan received his BFA from the Lyme Academy and his MFA from Tufts University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston.

He also studied at the Florence Academy of Art in Italy and in St. Petersburg, Russia.

He is currently a tenured associate professor at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut,

and is represented by the Fernando Louis Alvarez Gallery.

In this episode, Nathan and I talk about the language of painting.

We talk about learning form, composition, and why Nathan needed to teach himself how to construct multi-figure paintings to better tell stories with his art.

We also get into a conversation about painting through frustration and doubt and trusting the process which supports your way out of insecurities and beer surrounding painting.
