Welcome to the podcast. My name is Douglas Wilson. This is episode 407, 407, the podcast. Here we are.

0:27.1

So I want to talk this go-round about narco boats and pirates.

0:33.9

Okay, narco boats and pirates. The president has recently made a splash by ordering narco boats to be blown out of the water in international waters as they are heading toward the United States. Now, some people say that the boats aren't big enough to make it

0:55.5

all the way across and so forth. But if the intel is good, and we have, I think, good reason to

1:01.9

suppose that it is. And these boats are full of drugs and they're out in international waters,

1:08.7

then either they're going to the United States or they're

1:12.2

going to a drop-off point, another transfer point. So in either case, the situation is the same.

1:19.7

Now, a lot of Christians, thoughtful Christians, conservative Christians, Christians who believe

1:24.9

the Bible, however much we might rejoice in the fact

1:28.3

that those drugs are not going to make it here. They've got questions. Or when people on the

1:34.8

left accuse the president of war crimes, they say, well, I'm not sure how to answer that because

1:40.8

you know, they didn't get due process. I mean, they just blew up the boat,

1:45.8

right? What are we to make of this? What's, what is a Christian worldview take on blowing up

1:52.8

narco boats without a trial, without an arrest, without, without anything? What are we to make of this?

1:59.8

Now, I think that we can agree initially on the principle.

2:05.8

Take a scale of one to ten. And we're not, let's not rope in sob sisters or pacifists or people who

2:13.4

would just take us in a radically different direction. I'm talking about conservative Christians

2:17.3

who have no problem with law and order, have no problem with defending the border and that sort of

2:22.2

thing. But they have due process questions about this. So on a scale of one to ten, a one would be something

2:30.3

that everybody would agree is problematic, unlawful, sinful, and wicked.

2:37.0

So let's say that there was a drug deal, a major drug deal, the equivalent of one of these

2:42.2

narco boats, for example, that was occurring in a deserted warehouse just outside of St. Louis.
