I'm the host Scott Feinberg and today my guest is Naomi Harris. She's a 40 year old

British actress who began her career as a child, then broke through onto the scene in 28 days later back in 2002,

and in the years since has starred in movies both big and small.

Blockbusters that she's been a part of include Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man's

Chest and Pirates of the Caribbean at World's End, as well as two Bond movies,

Skyfall and Specter. She's also done some mid-range movies, most notably playing Winnie Mandela in Mandela

Long Walk to Freedom, but in my view she has shined most of all in some small budget movies,

including the first grader, a no budget movie that she

made in 2010 and most recently in moonlight a low budget film from writer

director Barry Jenkins that had its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival back in September and has become the talk of the

festival circuit ever since. A24 films will release it on October 21st.

Over the course of our conversation, Harris and I talked about a wide

range of subjects including what it's been like playing a bond girl unlike any

other who came before her, why playing Winnie Mandela was such a daunting

challenge, and what it was about the character

that she plays in moonlight that was more complex and demanding than any other part she'd ever played
