The story began last autumn. Mr. Grant Parker, a wealthy art collector, told me and asked me

down to his country place for the weekend. Fifteen minutes later I picked up my good friend

in Fector Noah Denton, and we were on our way to Woodville. The small country town where

Parker spent his summer. Now we're going down to see this Grant Parker who says he's

enumished, what's the thing you call him by? Enumished Matters Inspector. Is that good?

Well enumished Matters Inspector is a man who collects coins. Who doesn't?

Personally I prefer collecting the holding kind of dow. Enumished Matters Inspector is somewhat

different than merely collecting money. Some rare coins, admitted at the value of, say,

fifty cents or so for as high as $10,000. You don't say. And I understand that Grant Parker has

an equally valuable coin in his collection. It's called a Maria Theresa taller from the island

of Massira. Well, well. Say, what? Yes, Inspector. Doesn't it ever hurt, Noah, so much?
