Summary

Dennis Murphy and the Dateline team are spending some quality time in sunny Florida to figure out what exactly happened to stunning newlywed Wendy who is found murdered only 4 days after her wedding. No stranger to the garden variety murderous husband, Dennis is busy pointing out all the red flags of the case's main suspect, like the bright red desperation Dukati, the extremely vague job history, and the way too close for comfort relationship with his ex-girlfriend. But this vintage Dateline takes us to some special Miami locations perfect for honeymoons where one part of the couple has evil intent. Kimberly and Katie are here to discuss the importance of themed room airport hotels in a budding relationship and their innate bias that anytime a Dateline includes the term "sexual swapping" that the crime is going to somehow revolve around that lifestyle choice. But things aren't always as they seem... so get ready to enjoy the sweet Miami vices of A Date with Dateline: To Catch a South Beach Slimeball Edition! Official Description from PEACOCK: A young woman is found dead in Miami four days after her wedding. Dennis Murphy reports. Thank you to our very special Patreons, Rebecca P and Rebekah H. We're here. This is called mystery and South Beach. We did not do this past week's episode because

0:12.9

it was very sad, but it was so good. Everyone should watch it. It's a case that we even heard about

0:19.6

like a year ago, but it's the one that makes talk to us specifically about, right? Yeah. We did not

0:25.6

cover what happened to Amy, but it was so good. It's required viewing. Absolutely. For our listeners,

0:33.3

if we are able to demand anything of you, watch that episode. Don't, I mean, seriously, we are

0:39.6

strongly requesting because they're looking for information in the case and it's one that

0:43.8

make is super passionate about it and he talked to us about it off the air after one of our

0:49.9

interviews with him in the past couple of years, I guess. I can't remember which interview it was.

0:54.7

It was the last interview we did with them. Are you sure? Positive. He talked about this because

1:00.3

he had hoped it would come out sometime this summer and we're just out of summer. So it is what

1:05.2

he talked about, but it was actually the last time we talked to him. Yeah. So if you don't do it for us,

1:11.3

do it for Josh and do it for Amy. Go watch the episode. Yeah. Yeah. No one's doing anything for us.

1:16.8

We'll make it. Do it for Mank. But instead we are talking about mystery in South Beach, which is

1:23.4

season 22 episode 37 May 13th 2014 Dennis hosted who was to the perfection of Dennis. And he's on

1:34.2

his home turf. He's a Florida man. He's fabulous. Yes. Yes. Also, there's another reason that we'll get

1:39.3

to why I think he was giving this episode because he always gets these ones. Yeah, it makes sense.

1:44.3

This seems right. It doesn't seem wrong. No. Okay. It used to, but now we just used to it that he

1:51.0

gets these kind of episodes. So this was in 2002 in Miami, Florida. And Dennis tells us if you've

1:58.7

ever heard that beautiful people caught all the breaks, then listen to this story of 21-year-old

2:03.8

Wendy Turpaga because she might just be the most gorgeous doomed young woman to walk these streets.

2:10.0

And we learned that Wendy had a passion for fashion and makeovers. And we learned that one time a
