The Welcome everybody to another episode of Dr Matt and Dr Mike's medical podcast.

Today we are going to discuss eskinemic heart disease and we have our resident

medical expert in with us today our guest denesh first of many first of many hopefully

dinesh how are you hey guys how you doing thanks for having me on thank you for coming in so

denesh is going to help us with all the clinical stuff.

We'll be discussing what ischemic heart disease is and how it presents and then what we could

potentially do clinically to treat a schematic heart disease.

Matt, where do we want to start?

Do you want to define what the Schemic heart disease is?

All right, so aschemia in itself i guess would

be defined as a reduction in blood flow into a tissue or location now this is different to say

hypoxemia which could be more systemically based whereas ischemia is a reduction in an area

now i guess speaking in reference to the heart this is a reduction in an area. Now I guess speaking in reference to the heart,

this is a reduction in blood flow to just the heart,

probably more specifically the heart muscle itself

because that is the area that's probably working the hardest

and that's the area that's going to run out of oxygen first.

So when you reduce blood flow,

you're obviously reducing oxygen delivery, but also nutrient

delivery as well.
