0:26.0 | These conditions occur due to uncontrolled proliferation of a single type of stem cell. |
0:32.9 | And they're considered to be a type of bone marrow cancer. |
0:36.7 | And there's three myeloproliferative disorders that you need to remember for your exam. |
0:42.0 | The first is primary myelofibrosis. |
0:45.9 | The second is polycythemia vera. |
0:49.6 | And the third is essential thrombocytemia. |
0:54.0 | Primary myelofibrosis is the result of proliferation of the hematopoetic stem cell. |
1:00.2 | Polycythemia vera is the result of the proliferation of the erythroid cell line. |
1:06.9 | And essential thrombosythemia is a result of proliferation of the megacaryocytic cell line. |
1:15.5 | And remember, megacaryocytes are what creates platelets. |
1:19.5 | So just to recap that, there's a proliferating cell line and they cause a disease. |
1:24.5 | So the hematopoetic stem cell creates primary myelofibrosis when it proliferates, |
1:31.8 | erythroid cells when they proliferate, create polycythemia vera, and megacaryocytes when they proliferate, |
1:40.2 | create essential thrombosythemia. Miloproliferative disorders have the potential to progress and transform into acute myeloid leukemia. |
1:50.0 | And this is a transformation you need to remember. |
1:52.5 | So these myeloprelifrative disorders, whichever one it is, can transform into AML. |
