Summary

Did you know that once a month we are doing a mentor episode? We will cover a different topic each month in hopes to provide helpful content for you and your local mentor.

1) listen to the episode

2) talk about it with a mentor or friend that is a season ahead of you

If you’re just getting started - don’t miss the first few episodes:

If you have been around this podcast for any length of time, you know that I am passionate about generosity. I was raised in a home that lived out their faith with generosity. The biblical concept of generosity and stewardship is one that gives meaning and purpose to my daily life. It’s been so fun to pass down this legacy of generosity to my kids and watch them step into this way of life.

Today, I have the absolute honor of interviewing Boyd Bailey. Boyd is the President of the National Christian Foundation (NCF) in Georgia. He is also the author of several books, including his latest, The Power of Generosity: Experiencing God’s Amazing Abundance - How to Change the World Through Acts of Kindness.

My favorite part is when he shares a GREAT idea. He gives his grandkids money at Thanksgiving and they come back together at Christmas to talk about what they did with the money and time. What a fantastic tradition! I am 100% doing this.

Enjoy!

Hey friends, welcome back to Part of the Mess. I'm your host, Courtney Defeo, and I am fired up about today's guest in this episode. But first, I want to remind you about this mentor series. If you're new here or you're just tuning in to this one, you're like, what are you talking about? Once a month this year, I really felt led to do a mentor episode. And what that means is it's called my virtual mentor and then we'll go through different topics. We've done one on, let's see, our intimacy

1:37.9

with Christ. We've done one on personalities and temperaments. And this one is going to be all

1:42.7

about generosity and stewardship. And so my hope is that you'll listen to this episode and then you will get a lunch with a mom or a mentor, someone just a season ahead. You'll both listen to it and then you'll talk about it. And this saves you some time when I was in a mentor group years ago. In fact, this entire series is based off of that experience. It was 18 years ago. I was with Regina

2:01.4

Williams, and we had a binder and homework and scripture memory and all the things. And it really

2:05.6

changed my life. And so I went through that binder and pulled out some of the topics that I felt

2:09.5

for young moms or even high school moms or middle school moms that were the most impactful

to my life. And this was one of them. When she did the session on stewardship

2:19.1

and how would we steward our lives as a couple and a family, it really got my attention because I
