Summary

Rob doesn’t ordinarily share the content of his therapy sessions on his podcasts, but he feels like some of the feedback he has been getting from his therapist would be beneficial for other entrepreneurs out there to hear. Listen in to this episode to learn how and why you are already good enough, regardless of what you do or don’t achieve. Secret Leaders Podcast Listen Now https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/secret-leaders/id1229438369Learn what it’s really like to be a top entrepreneur and how to get there from founders of startups like Monzo, BrewDog, Jo Malone, Slack, and Lastminute.com   KEY TAKEAWAYS  Being an entrepreneur can be lonely, you are learning, taking risks but also have a lot of responsibility. This can take it’s toll emotionally. There’s a lot more knowledge and acceptance of everyone’s mental health in recent times, Rob tries to lead the way in accepting that its ok to not always have everything figured out. Do you compare yourself? Do you every feel good enough? Rob often seeks his validation from his success as an entrepreneur. This can be helpful in small doses but if it is all we search for it can be an empty pursuit. These are external factors of validation. Who you are is much greater than this. Rob’s therapist believes that Rob saw love as conditional when he was a child, which is what has now built his external ideas of value and worth as an adult. Surround yourself with people who love you for who you are regardless of what you achieve. There is a lot of knowledge out there for entrepreneurs, but not enough surrounding mental health and the difficulties you can face in your journey.   BEST MOMENTS  “Being an entrepreneur can be lonely” “You are good enough, you are worthy!” “Our self-esteem is linked to unconditional love” “Many people are carrying baggage from years before”   [Business, mindset, entrepreneur, disruptors] VALUABLE RESOURCES https://robmoore.com/ bit.ly/Robsupporter   https://robmoore.com/podbooks  rob.team ABOUT THE HOST Rob Moore is an author of 9 business books, 5 UK bestsellers, holds 3 world records for public speaking, entrepreneur, property investor, and property educator. So I don't usually share publicly details of my therapy sessions. That's usually saved for my

regularly given in my support and Rob. Team program is the outpouring of my therapy, from my

You can feel very lost. You're often figuring it out as you go. You don't always know what you're

doing. You're putting yourself out there. You're taking risks. You have a lot of responsibility.

People rely on you greatly. And at times that can really, really hit you emotionally. Let's not

1:01.3

hide this fact. And in recent years, there's a lot more knowledge and respect now about your mental

1:09.1

health and how we should take it seriously. And I for many years have tried to lead the way in

1:20.2

sharing that it's okay to have a therapist and it's okay to not always have everything figured out

1:27.5

and be lost and lonely and overwhelmed and feel the pressure of risk and responsibility.

Because you are a human being. And if you suffer alone and in silence and you don't figure this out,

then it's going to cause you a lot more distress. Thank you for the star donations, by the way.

So I'm now going to share some shame from my last therapy session. And I know that some of my

1:58.0

critics are going to get on me. So why should you listen to Robbie's in therapy? I would argue,

2:04.1

maybe you shouldn't listen to anyone who's not in therapy. Now in therapy sounds like you're

2:10.8

completely fucked. So I tend not to say I'm in therapy. I just share lessons from my therapist

2:19.2

because that's exactly what they are. Lessons. Lessons from your mental. Lessons from your coach.

2:26.1

Lessons from the influences. Lessons from your therapist. What's the difference?

The more you learn, the more you earn. And I think self-knowledge,
