0:12.0	So as the, I guess, resident Canadian here,
0:16.0	I was tasked with reporting on what's going on in Canada.
0:21.0	And we can argue whether Sweden or Canada is the top walk place in the world.
0:28.1	Some will say Sweden, some will say Canada and I happen to be at one of the walkest of Canadian universities.
0:34.8	And so many people have come up to me today and said, how is it that you can say all the things
0:38.7	that you do and yet survive in that world?
0:41.7	Well, maybe that's what we'll talk about of it today,
0:43.6	having the intellectual courage
0:45.1	to just say what you wish to say,
0:47.5	unencumbered by some of these shackles.
0:51.0	And for those of you who think, oh, but tenure protects you, I will send you the death threats that I receive.
0:56.8	And then we can discuss whether tenure protects you in every possible way.
0:59.7	So in any case, let me just contextualize how it is in Canada. This is a study that came out a few years ago from the Justice Center for Constitutional Freedoms, ranks 60 universities, Canadian universities in grades along four metrics in terms of how much
1:16.9	freedom they have.
1:18.9	The university policies promote freedom, university practices, student union policies, and student union practices. policies and
1:24.0	student union practices.
1:25.0	And it turns out that out of 240 possible grades, 60 universities times 4,
1:30.0	they were only 6 as. So roughly 2.5% of all possible grades are A's in Canada. So we
