Summary

This is a behind-the-scenes look at the travel rig I will be filming the Artist Series of videos with. I've changed up my rig quite a bit for these to minimize setup and create more intimacy in the videos I'm going to make. So no fancy lighting setup with extra bags to haul. I'm going to be renting 2 Sony A7SII camera bodies and I'll be shooting using ambient light only. I'm renting my gear through BorrowLenses - check them out! http://goo.gl/9gmYcK Twitter: http://twitter.com/tedforbes Instagram: http://instagram.com/tedforbes Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/aop.podcast Pinterest: http://pinterest.com/tedforbes Website: http://theartofphotography.tv And get on our mailing list to stay up to date on photography news and the latest episodes: http://theartofphotography.tv/about/mailing-list/ Ted Forbes The Art of Photography 3100 Main St #135 Dallas, Texas 75226 Thanks for watching - if you like this video, remember to share it with your friends! Yesterday I filmed the first interview for the artist series and I cannot wait to share these with you guys.

I had an individual yesterday who was not only deeply inspiring, but we had this great conversation about photography and philosophy,

0:19.0

living a creative life, producing art, and this set a tone because this is exactly what I want these short

0:24.4

films to be like when I'm done and so over the next few weeks as I get the first

0:27.9

group ready for release I'm really excited to share this with you guys and I'm

0:32.0

leaving for Los Angeles tomorrow but I

0:33.6

thought it would be fun today to do a little bit of behind the scenes and

0:36.6

talk about some of the equipment that I'm going to be using. I've made a lot of

0:39.7

changes to my setup and how I do these interviews and I want to talk about why. There are a couple

0:45.4

things that came to mind when I started thinking about the artist series and one of the things

0:49.4

that I wanted to be able to do was to film all of these in 4k. Now inevitably every time I mentioned 4k

0:54.5

somebody will ask me what does that mean? 4k refers to the final video

0:58.0

resolution that you're filming these in so standard HD or high definition video is what we call 1080 which refers to the

1:06.3

height of the video in pixels so that means it's 1,080 pixels high now 4K video

1:12.1

is twice that it It is 2,160 pixels high and so it is a much bigger

1:17.3

picture in the end. Now there are some challenges of working with 4K and I don't

1:21.0

work that way normally mainly because the files are massive.

1:24.5

So you have to have a lot of storage to store the files and then even working with them on the

1:28.0

computer is slow and cumbersome because your computer has to work twice as hard

1:32.3

especially when you're doing color

1:33.3

correction or something like that or rendering a file out to be posted on the internet.

1:37.6

It's a lot of work involved and it does become labor intensive and there is some arguments
