Hi Dr. Laura. My question has to do with my step sister and my half sister.

Yesterday they got that ties together at the same church that we all go to but they did not invite me or my family to like even just watch and celebrate with them.

So I'm wondering if I either totally view our relationship wrong and I just need to accept that reality or if it's worthy of me saying something to them that hey I would have loved to have been there to cheer and support you guys.

And I'm sad that you didn't let me know or invite me in my family.

And what kinds of things have you have they done to include you in the past?

It's very very minimal. I mean obviously clearly we're a blended family and so there's always been if it were only blended yours is an example of a salad family not a blended family.

There are all kinds of mix you're not siblings in the usual sense of a mommy and a daddy and the kids all in one home.

And while it would be nice it's not very unusual for only certain of these to feel close.

So unless you can think of something you've done that's so horrendous that they're avoiding you and we might have to look at the fact that the bonding didn't develop.

Not because anybody was bad at circumstances make for a lot of feelings in kids.

Now what do you think is particular about the two of them?

Because I don't know who married whom or who got knocked up here so the ones one who is totally unrelated to you and one who was half related to you they get along.

Do they have the same parents?

The same mom, yeah but my dad came into my step sister's life when she was 18 months old and then after they had my little sister Megan and so I'm the oldest of the six girls that make up this combined family and those are the two youngest in the family.

And what is the age difference what is the age difference I think you just said it but I didn't hear it.

Yeah 13 years.

So we didn't necessarily even though I lived with them I was in high school in college right and then I moved out and got married while they were growing up and I do see and understand that they have a closer dynamic.

It hurts because I you have to drop you have to drop the hurt.

You have to literally forget about hurt.

There was no intention to be vindictive or hurtful.
