Summary

Tom Dimitroff and Matt Kelley are teachers by day, entrepreneurs by night, and coaches all the time. Their idea for a website that helps coaches and athletes keep track of their stats (and a whole lot more than that) came about organically out of a need they had as baseball coaches. They've got a great start, but have a bunch of questions about exposure and growth. They are at the bottom of the first inning, so to speak, and have the whole game still ahead of them. What is the best way for them to connect with their existing customers? When is the right time to expand out of their region? How much should they charge and what pricing model is best for what they're doing? Should the athletes pay, or should the coaches pay? What about building an app for it?

We discuss communities, webinars, and a lot more on this week's AskPat 2.0 coaching call. It's on deck right here. Batter up!

You're about to listen to a conversation between myself and an entrepreneur, just like you.

0:21.7

In fact, two entrepreneurs, Tom and Matt, who love baseball, they created a software to help

0:27.2

coaches learn more about their kids.

0:30.5

And I'm not just talking about, like, their home address and phone number.

0:34.6

I'm talking about, like, batting averages and all the stats that one coach

0:39.2

might need to understand the full extent to which their kids are improving for lineups,

0:45.8

all this kind of stuff. You can find them at fungometrics.com. Fungometrics.com. This is Tom and Matt.

0:53.3

And it's a great conversation talking about growth because they kind of just started this on the side, just sharing it with a few people here and there. It's kind of taken off a little bit, but they want to go further. They want to go wider. And also they needed some help with other ways to potentially promote it. And as you'll be able to hear, I get pretty excited and come up with some ideas on my own, too, for Tom and Matt. So here they are. appreciate your time. Yeah, thank you. Absolutely. This will be a lot of fun.

Why don't you give us a little bit of a background on who you guys are?

1:30.8

What do you guys do? And then we'll go from there.

1:32.7

Well, first off, we're both a couple of high school teachers.

1:36.3

We met through coaching and our love for the game of baseball and statistics, we kind of started creating, taking stats and had this idea of how

1:45.3

we could track stats in a better way in baseball.

1:48.5

I mean, a lot of the stats we did, we would take a piece of paper and a pencil to practice

1:53.1

and we would write down everything and then we'd bring it back to work the next day and

1:56.7

put it in an Excel spreadsheet and create some formulas to run through and try to get some information.

2:02.3

So we just decided there's got to be a better way to do this.

2:05.7

And we thought, why don't we try to put something together where coaches could easily input the data.
