Summary

Is rejection trauma a real thing? In this full solo episode, I talk about relationship trauma. Specifically, we discuss rejection trauma and how that can affect us in the long-term. Trauma around rejection is no joke, but luckily there are ways to treat the psychological wounds rejection inflicts. I discuss my past relationships in this episode and those wounds, being cheated on repeatedly, big T trauma and little t trauma, your own rejection stories, and how important self-awareness is in choosing a partner.

Hey guys, welcome back to We Met It Act Me. I'm excited about today's episode.

0:10.9

It is going to be a full solo episode, which we haven't done in quite a while, but

0:16.6

you had reached out on Instagram and we had been talking a little bit about trauma,

0:21.7

specifically relationship trauma. And I think it'd be a really good idea if I talk about

0:30.0

my experience with relationship trauma. If I bring in a therapist for a few minutes to

0:37.6

give us the real rundown on trauma and we can kind of hear that perspective, but also hear

0:48.2

my perspective, which I haven't really talked about my specific relationship trauma.

0:55.9

And there are tons of reasons for that, mostly because when we experience trauma, we don't

1:02.4

think of it really as trauma because there's types of trauma, right? So in therapy, they call it

1:13.3

small T trauma and large T trauma. And small T trauma could include conflicts,

1:22.8

like interpersonal conflicts, infidelity, divorce, having to relocate, legal trouble,

1:30.0

financial trouble, and relationship trouble, which is I guess interpersonal conflict. And then

1:37.0

large T trauma is more like going through a natural disaster. I got for a bit a terrorist attack,

1:46.1

a sexual assault, like a mugging, that kind of thing, more physical and obvious trauma. But

1:56.8

regardless, whether it's small T trauma or large T trauma, it usually does have a big impact on

2:04.4

your life. And if this is something that you've experienced, I just want you to know that there

2:10.0

are places that you can get help. There's trauma-focused therapy. And I encourage everyone who feels

2:20.0

like they could use that help to seek it out. I'm just going to talk about my own experience. And

2:27.6

I also had asked you guys to write in some of your experiences. And so I'm going to read some of

2:35.2

your responses now. And then I'll talk a little bit about what I've gone through in my life.

2:42.0

There's a lot of responses so bear with me here. Someone said, my first ever boyfriend dumped
