| 0:33.4 | Welcome to Storyworthy. |
| 0:35.0 | My name is Christine Blackburn, and I'm here with Hanna Svini, and we're coming to you from St. Ursula's Catholic Church in Allison Park, Pennsylvania. Do you know why, Christine? Well, I know why, but I will say this. Just as then, as I said, woo, I thought to myself, you don't really say woo at church. You know what I mean? you might like like, oh, it's a, it's been a pleasant service or something. |
| 0:57.0 | But you wouldn't really, it's not like a mosh. |
| 0:58.6 | I wouldn't know. |
| 0:59.3 | I never went to church. You didn't? Ever? We never went to church, ever. Oh my gosh. I was totally forced to go to church, you know, until I was 15. My family was so unreligious that I don't really even know what part of Christianity we aren't a part of. |
| 1:11.5 | I see. |
| 1:12.0 | I assume we aren't Lutheran. |
| 1:14.2 | I assume if we weren't Catholic, I've told the story before. I was like trying to talk to my grandma once and it was like there was a new Pope coming up and I'm like 10. And I go, hey, so you're excited about the new Pope? And she was like, we are not Catholic. She was pissed at the idea that so she's probably Lutheran because they're from Wisconsin. Well, the reason why we're coming from St. Ursula's Church in Allison Park, Pennsylvania is because that's where my parents got married. That's right. In 1954. Wow. I can't do math, but I know it was a long time |
| 1:46.2 | ago. It was a long time ago. I'm guessing that Allison Park remains pretty much exactly the same, |
| 1:50.6 | except for the addition of several fast food joints. No, I don't even know about that. I haven't |
| 1:55.7 | gone through Allison Park in a thousand years. But anyway, tonight, our storyteller, Bill Ratner, |
| 2:00.0 | he brings forth a topic, my parents' wedding. Yeah, exactly. My parents' wedding. And so when I thought about that, my parents' wedding, I knew nothing about it except that I knew they got married on July 3rd, 1954, but I didn't know. So you called, you said you called. So, no, I emailed my sisters, four of my sisters, and I didn't bother emailing my |
| 2:18.0 | brother, because I know he won't have this information. But I thought maybe my sisters will know something. And you know what? They know nothing. They knew that they were married on July 3rd. And that's it. And that's all I knew. Yeah. So then I called my mom. That was smart. I should have called her to start with. Yeah, I know that would have been a good source to go to, but you know, fuck that bullshit. |
| 2:37.0 | She thinks there's a story world. She doesn't know what the hell is going on. But we, yeah. So, yeah, see, so like, we didn't even know, you know, you're like, yeah, that's where my parents were married. You didn't know until three hours ago. that's why your parents were married in that church and I knew they were married at that day. I'm just saying like I didn't know about their wedding day. |
| 2:54.1 | So I learned that today. Earlier you said to me, well, maybe we can come from where your parents were married. I have no idea. And you refuse to believe that I have absolutely no idea where. I asked you to break it down to the state could you do that i didn't say |
| 3:09.4 | the name of the church or the name of the town somewhere in milwaukee okay there so that we now |
| 3:13.4 | we have a state and a town all of milwaukee is holy ground to me so it's really like all a church |
| 3:17.6 | ladies and gentlemen let me tell you this the storyworthy podcast is an official selection in the la pod |
