My mother has been impulsive and controlling for as long as I can remember.

Every relationship she's ever had has been strained because of her behavior towards colleagues, siblings, my dad, her ex-husband, friends, and everyone else in her path. And OPEC says, three years ago, I got a job opportunity in a different country, one where we have a lot of family. I decided to take it

because I was excited for the opportunity to become closer to them and experience life on a different

continent. While I was settling into my new life, my mother, who is retired, visited shortly after

and declared that she would buy a home near my apartment and move to the country. The problem was

that this isn't possible due to immigration

laws. You need a long-term visa, not a tourist visa, for extended states. Her ego didn't allow no for an

answer. So she bought a beautiful beachfront property anyway in hopes of gaining citizenship.

Legally, she would only be allowed up to 90 days, potentially 180 if extended.

She couldn't believe what the case officer and lawyer she hired were telling her,

and she started arguing with them about how much money she would donate to society with her housing purchases.

When reality finally set in after several failed meetings,

we decided it would be best if I lived in the

property to keep it maintained, pay the bills, and she could visit whenever without worrying about it

being vacant. After some time, I met my girlfriend. We became serious, and she moved in. My mother was

happy about how things were going for me and would face time with us regularly, really taking a liking to her.

When my girlfriend became pregnant and we announced the news, my mother was extremely happy and gifted

me 50% of the home as a present to us. It was the nicest and most generous thing anyone had ever done
