This happened a few years ago, close to Christmas time. I work from home and have since the early

2000s. At the time I was renting a house in a blue-collar middle-class

neighborhood. One day my son who was in high school at the time, woke up with a raging headache, so I let him stay home.

It was mid-morning when my doorbell rang. It wasn't unusual.

The neighborhood we lived in was kind of a prime spot for door-to-door solicitors.

I yelled for my son to get it because he was so much better at getting rid of those types of people.

This kid has this deadpan stare that would make the devil flinch.
