Hello, everyone. Welcome to Slash Film Daily. Today is Monday, April 28th, 2025. On today's episode of the show,

0:05.5

I'm going to be talking about the 2025 TCM Classic Film Festival. My name is Ben Pearson. I'm an editor at

0:11.7

slashfilm.com. And it's just me on today's show. I'm still visiting Los Angeles. And since my

0:17.4

trip coincided with this year's Turner Classic Movies Classic Film Festival,

0:21.5

a festival that I had never attended, I thought it would be fun to try to drop in and check it out

0:26.0

and catch a handful of screenings while I'm in town.

0:28.6

So this is going to be a shorter episode than normal, but I wanted to tell you about my experience

0:32.1

because this is a really, really cool festival and might even be worth timing a trip around

0:36.8

if you were a classic film lover.

0:39.3

So the opening night movie was The Empire Strikes Back with George Lucas in attendance.

0:44.3

We wrote a little about a fun piece of trivia that came out of that Q&A.

0:48.5

I'm going to link to our article about it in the show notes, but I was not there personally for

0:53.0

that screening.

0:53.9

Instead, I checked

0:54.6

out Suspicion, which is the Alfred Hitchcock film starring Carrie Grant and Joan Fontaine.

0:59.5

I had seen it once years ago, but never in a theater and never with an introduction by

1:03.6

TCM's Alicia Malone. A quick side note, if you're a regular TCM watcher, you know that almost all

1:09.4

the introductions that they do for their movies spoil the

1:12.0

film that you're about to watch in some way or another.

1:14.5

And when I'm watching a movie on TCM that I've never seen, I always fast forward

1:19.0

through that part and then go back and watch it after the movie is over because I don't

1:22.0

want to be spoiled.
