Hi Dr. Laura. So I listen to you growing up and you are the person that I am coming to with this because I can't really talk to anyone in my life about it because it just feels a little bit too close to home and it's not my secret to tell.

So this situation is kind of in two parts.

I am engaged to an awesome man. We met three years ago, got engaged last October. We both come from families of alcoholics. My mom is sober, 18 years. His mom is still a pretty heavily active drinker and she has deteriorated

tremendously over the last year. She weighs about 85 pounds and recently broke

her pelvis. So it's a tough situation.

I'm noticing my fiance starting to party more regularly and it's I have a feeling and then attempt to kind of

numb what he's going through and not really pay attention to it. But he's behaving more and more like his father in terms of just the lack of consideration

for how some of this makes me feel. The other part of this... I do have a question for you.

Before you go on, I do have a question for you. Okay. It's a very simple question.

So here's my question.

Why is he a fiance to you?

With what you just described coming from, sh coming from two alcoholic families and now his way

of handling stress is to drink hmm tell you what I will pay to have your tubes tied so you can't make babies.

If you wish to marry what is a budding alcoholic, do so but don't bring any kids into it.

So I will pay

for your tubal ligations.
