Hello, ho-ho-ho. My name's Mike Fenton-Stevens. Welcome to the best of my Christmas time capsule, part one.

Over the past five years, I've been asking guests to tell me things they'd want in a Christmas

time capsule. Yes, that's how some grown-ups spend their time.

Anyway, as a present to you, and as we know, a present should never be judged by its value,

I have put together some of my favourites, along with, of course, some dreadful Christmas

jokes, such as, why did Scrooge score a goal? Because the spirit of Christmas passed.

So, gird your loins, crack over the sherry, and as my one-and-only one-night date said to me,

sit back and strap yourself in, because we start this collection as we started the whole 550 plus episodes of My Time Capsule with the ever-faithful Stephen Fry.

What do you think of when you think of Christmas Day?

Well, now, Michael, I'd so like to be able to help you with a really thrilling and exciting and extraordinary, earth-shattering Christmas memory.

But like most people, I suspect my Christmas memories are I woke up and Father Christmas had filled my stocking.

And then I went down and woke up my parents and it was only three in the morning and

then had to go back to sleep and couldn't and got over-excited and my brother and I broke three

of our presents and, you know, the usual.

Yes.

And then a little older, obviously, making breakfast for people who are staying in the house

over Christmas, which I used to do a lot,

have guests, you know, of my own age, friends.

Once I was a grown-up, I would be a host for Christmas and I'd make eggs Benedict in the morning

and, you know, the usual stuff, you know, a Bucks Fizz or a bloody Mary and lunch, but the turkey.

I mean, come on, Stephen, what's interesting about that?

So I kept thinking, everybody has that story.
