Hi everybody this is Gatsat for the Sad Truth finally Douglas Murray and I meet many of you I know I've been looking forward to this I know that I've been looking forward to it

before I seat the floor to Douglas I'd like to briefly introduce him.

He is an associate editor at The Spectator, associate director of the Henry Jackson Society,

and he's written several books, including Bozie, a biography of Lord Alfred Douglas,

neo-conservidism, why we need it.

Bloody Sunday Truth Lies and the Savi Inquiry and Islamophilia,

a very metropolitan malady. How are you doing?

So I thought we would start with this brilliant word Islamofilia because I think it relates to a virus of the

human mind that I refer to as ostrich parasitic syndrome. Now we know that ostriches don't

literally bury their heads in the sand, but it's become an apt metaphor to explain how people can be in such, you know, unbelievable denial to toward realities that are otherwise as clear as the existence of gravity.

And I think Islamophilia, if you like, is a manifestation of this ostrich parasitic syndrome.

So maybe you could start us there. What is Islamophilia? Who are those who suffer from this

affliction and we can take it from there? Take it away.

Well, yes, my book on Islamophilia, it's not actually currently available, which is rather annoying.

It's undergoing a brief rewrite and a reissue quite soon.

But I came up with the term Islamophilia because really first of all I've become so bored of hearing

what I think of as being it's sort of opposite the word Islamophobia which had been around

for so many years and meant so little or at least what it did mean was so wrong and so irritatingly wrong.
