Welcome to foul play. This series is called My Aunt and the Hitman. I'm your host Wendy C and this is episode 6 the funeral. In previous episodes I've told you how the pieces of the puzzle were finally slotting into place.

My Aunt Sharon had been found strangled at her home on the 7th of December 2007.

Her ex-husband George had found her tied up with

electrical cord and duct tape, laid on her side, on her bed under a huge pile of clothes.

The forensic team were able to get DNA from the duct tape to help their

investigation. The detectives had found further DNA at George's mom's home. It was on a glass, found

in the on-sweet bathroom that George's friend Paul had used when he stayed there in early December.

The DNA on the glass matched the DNA on the duct tape.

The fingerprints from that glass were traced through the police

database to Paul Crine. An Englishman living in Thailand who had a previous

criminal record in England for robbery, had been accused of kidnapping his girlfriend and was suspected of a murder in Thailand in 2003.

Using CCTV footage, witness statements and forensics, the detectives were able to ascertain that Sharon's

murder actually happened on the 4th of December 2007, not on the 7th of December 2007 when

she was found. Ready for episode 6? The detectives are now

sure that crime has to be involved and they are sure that the murder

happened on the 4th of December, but they need to gather the evidence

and make sure that they have all their ducks in a row before they make a move. While forensically examining George's phone, the police had found a text from

Crine's number dated the 4th of December 2007 that said,

What am I? A fucking mushroom standing here in the dark.
