Summary

Howdy! Welcome back!

This episode of MwH is with newly minted 3x NFR Qualifier, Cheyenne Wimberly. Prior to this season, this lifelong cowgirl from the Lone Star State, last qualified for the world’s richest rodeo in 1998. 21 years, dozens of horses, and hundreds of life experiences later, she’s right back at the top of the sport that she’s always been in love with. A talented horsewoman from a race horse and rodeo family, Cheyenne will be leaning on a ton of experience heading into this year’s finals. She’ll also be heading west to the Thomas and Mack with quite a nice set of ponies. Cheyenne, a fantastic horse trainer in her own right, will be taking a horse she trained herself along with a superstar set of futurity and derby champions trained by some of the top trainers in the sport; Brandon Cullins, Jolene Montgomery, and Lance Graves. We discuss all that and more over the course of this insightful conversation. She’s sure to excite and be a force under the bright lights of rodeo’s biggest stage.

Look, I get it. Clinics can be expensive. Who has half a day, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday available all the time. I get it.

0:15.7

Sometimes they're inconvenient. As awesome as they are to be saturated in a world of barrel racing and have that

0:21.2

in-depth curriculum and some of the positive things that can happen from there. I get that it's not

0:26.2

always convenient or it's not always conducive for everybody. So what we have come up with is a way

0:32.2

for you to go online to submit videos and to get one-on-one coaching from Jackie Yacht's Law. I get there's other

0:41.7

people that teach clinics. There's other people that are trying to do some online coaching of

0:46.5

sorts, I guess, but no one even remotely close has the skins on the wall, has the accomplishments,

0:52.8

has the number of folks they've trained who have gone on to be, has the number of folks they've trained who

0:55.3

have gone on to be successful, the number of horses they've trained go on to be successful,

0:59.7

that's providing services like this, then Jackie is.

1:02.9

She's a phenomenal coach, literally hundreds of people.

1:06.1

She's taught, she's been doing clinics for 15 to 20 years, has done dozens of them,

1:21.6

you know, has taught hundreds of people, has given hundreds of lessons and really has a knack, a niche for teaching, specifically barrel racing, but teaching in general.

1:24.8

She understands people and does a really good job.

1:29.3

I think you'll see that in most of the reviews that we get from her clinics that we get from her coaching sessions. It's something that's really fantastic. I think it's a great

1:34.2

outlet. Maybe if your horse isn't tied around the firs, they're not shutting the clock off as you

1:38.8

want. Maybe they're refusing the alley. They're sitting up before the timer. All sorts of dozens and dozens of things

1:45.1

that can keep you from being as successful as you would like to be in your barrel racing

1:50.1

from some of these minute things. When you're talking about a game that's measured in hundreds

1:53.9

of seconds, you really need a fine-tune eye and a really experienced eye to help fine-tune

1:59.8

that barrel racing.
