It wins with your audience. If you're an MSNBC or CNN man, if it's salacious, it's jazzy, it reinforces the narrative that Trump's a lunatic or an idiot or whatever.

You just run with it man. Doesn't matter how factually based it is. But even by those standards we had an extraordinary event this week.

Yes, CNN's Jim Succio who is a former Obama administration official, he's under fire. The CIA itself and this is incredibly rare.

Came out and condemned as a report Monday. Here's what he wrote. Well, I tell you what, let's listen to the original reporter a part of it anyway. Then we'll break down how completely sideways it was.

Multiple Trump administration officials tell me that these officials with direct knowledge that in a previously undisclosed secret mission in 2017, the US successfully extracted from Russia one of its highest level sources, covert sources inside the Russian government.

A person directly involved in these discussions said that the removal of the Russian was driven in part by concerns that President Trump and his administration repeatedly mishandled classified intelligence and that that could contribute to exposing the covert source as a spy.

So note how he artfully transitioned from multiple sources several officials to one person close to the love of a for the explosive part. They extracted the the spy because Trump is an idiot and can't hold on to intelligence.

Well, this fits the pattern of something the New York Times has done infamously several times and been humiliated. The Washington Post likewise and that is finding one person who anonymously again that word is honestly just pretty drunk.

Anonymously says yeah, yeah, Trump got all mad and said this to Jim or whatever or yeah, it was about this one anonymous person who claimed to have been close to the something or other and they base the report on that.

Well, getting back to the response to that again, the CIA, the CIA itself came out with a statement. He claimed on Monday, the CIA had pulled a shooter did a high level spy out of Russia because President Trump had repeatedly mishandled we just are that.

CNN director for public affairs Brittany Bremel blasted CNN's report and I quote CNN's narrative that the central intelligence agency made life or death decisions based on anything other than objective analysis and sound collection is simply false. She said in the statement that's not a denial and Jim shooto Jim bull shooto whose reports are a pile of shoot.

His hung is had on that a listen that's a part of a jet of analysis of the he is doubling down on it, but that's that's beside the point CIA rarely scolds media members so the statement raised eyebrows both inside and outside CNN.

But I'm not sure you need to for your audience. I don't think your audience is that bothered by it. Right. And I'll see an end is going to try it a different way. And I think they'll be fine.

I think your audience thinks, yeah, it's okay. It's probably close enough to true and you know something like that probably happened anyway. So I'm all right with it.

And listen, here's the key factual point because the stuff I have in front of me is mostly about the criticism of the report, but the key factual point is that the decision to extract the guy was made before Trump took office.

And that's really all you know has gone on the record saying that which is incredibly rare.
