A marathon voting session in the Senate stretched overnight into the early hours this morning, and by 6 a.m. Eastern time was still going on.

The Votorama, as some are calling it, began yesterday just after 9.30 a.m., as lawmakers went

through a series of votes on amendments.

It's all to pass President Donald Trump's massive multi-trillion dollar bill to lower federal

taxes, infuse more money into the Pentagon and border security agencies, while downsizing

government safety net programs, including Medicaid.

Trump's team is pushing hard for this bill to pass, as CNN's Kristen Holmes tells us.

I spoke to a number of administration officials who say this has been a real full-furt press.

You have had not only President Trump on the phone with various senators, congressional leadership,

but you've also had members of the administration, allies of President Trump's. Anyone who has a relationship with any senator, they are

calling them, they are pushing them. And that's really because this is such an important part

of President Trump's legacy. We saw him on social media, essentially kind of leveling some veiled

threats at people who might try to stop

this bill from being passed, saying senators who are cutting costs, you need to be careful,

don't go too crazy, you still have to be re-elected.

Now another person making political threats over the passing of this bill is Elon Musk,

this time against anyone who does vote for it.

The tech billionaire posted on social media yesterday, quote,

Every member of Congress who campaigned on reducing government spending and then immediately voted for the biggest debt increase in history should hang their head in shame.

And they will lose their primary
