And thanks for listening in to our annual Sound-Off podcast, where we're going to be playing the 12 semifinalists, which covers an array of genres.

So this is how I'm going to do this. I'm going to play three artists at a time

and I'm going to describe all three artists and then play their songs. So pay attention

closely because this will avoid me having to talk in between each song.

One thing that stuck out to me of this list of 12 semifinalists are the band names, the artist names.

There's some killer names on this list.

For example, you're going to hear from the human missile crisis, a band called Mr. Dinkles, Tiny Planet. I mean, these names are awesome.

Let's get started. First group, also with a really cool name, called 49th parallel. They are from

Seattle, Washington, and there's five members in this group, and this is going to be a hip-hop group.

And 49th Parallel is a rap collective, which consists of five friends who have been hanging out for as long as they can remember.

Fun and friendship are at the core of everything they create

and their goal is to share that collective passion with everyone.

Their debut album was the result of an artist's residency

on Lopez Island and a partnership that formed because of a partnership that the YouTube channel was doing with the Yes Theory.
