I'm John Richards. Welcome to the latest music That Matters podcast, and a very special running podcast this time around. We brought in a guest.

Ken, introduce yourself. I'm Ken Tarleton. I'm a volunteer at K-E-X-P. I get a chance to assist John on Friday

mornings. And you're at the front desk, greeting people all the time as well. That's true. And Ken,

0:34.1

you've run how many marathons? I'm thinking 70 to 80, John. So we have an expert here today. A very humble expert. And something that Ken brought me, and I thought I'd bring Ken in to talk to all of you. He brought me something for this latest music It Matters podcast. It comes from an author named Tony Garcia. He actually posted six common running mistakes. And we're going to go over

at least five of them. You're going to have to guess the six. Ken, the first one to get everybody

started on their run. Tony writes, worrying about where you are not. He says, I have said it before,

but apparently it bears repeating, be where your feet are. Stop stressing about the distant or the distance.

This steals energy from the moment you are in, the place you currently exist in, as well for

worrying about what may await you miss the beauty of your current surroundings. So as you run,

you should focus on the moment. That's right. Be where your legs are is what I heard. I've never heard better advice for someone like me who's always looking to the finish and not looking around my surroundings. When I was running up, deception pass, I got mad at a runner right in front of me moving slow on the bridge and you can't pass them. I got so upset because it was going to hurt my time. And then I realized I am running on Deception Pass at one in the morning during a Ragnar. The moon is beautiful. The moon is

beautiful. And I slowed down and I was in the moment. So that's your goal today as you head out. Run. Be in the moment. Be where your feet are. Tell me where the light will go and I will chase it, chase it.
