Nardi Day, she's really active in the London new jazz scene. And she talked to me a little bit about

her new song, Free Fallen. And you're discovering it here. Where music matters it's kexp free falling was

originally an instrumental that i thought it might be really cool to improvise over live it was meant to be

a commission for the london jazz festival that ended up sort of not happening um because it was taking me

ages and i thought well i'm probably not going to finish it in time for

the jazz festival but I thought this might sound really cool with lyrics on or I remember being on

the train and seeing the sun kind of shining through the leaves and just being like that's a

really interesting image or it's like a really it was really

beautiful and just started writing so that's kind of how this song came about like a mishmash of

different influences and things that were happening golden beams pierced through leaves

display my fingers wide i lift and hold raise and fold and dancing partners ride think i'm falling for the side

open and close them fingers flick through light think I'm falling from the side.
