Here's a dude who's pretty amazing after all these years. It's Ed Werder.

It's covered the Cowboys in the NFL for decades for the Dallas Morning News, ESPN.

You see him on WFAA, and we have him weekly here on the Morning Musers during football season.

We thought we'd get his thoughts on the draft and a couple of cowboy items.

The great Ed Wurter joins us now on the ticket.

Good morning, gentlemen.

How are we?

We're doing well, and we couldn't figure out what we think of the cowboy draft until we hear

the Ed Wurter grade for it.

Oh.

No, seriously, you don't have to give it a grade,

but we've been talking just Caleb Downs alone was a really good start to this draft.

And it stands to reason you would have a good draft when you have two number one picks,

but this appears to be the best, most productive Cowboys draft in a long time.

Well, I kind of look at it like they're trying to repeat what they did in 2021, right after

Mike McCarthy's first year and the historic defensive failure by Mike Nolan as a defensive coordinator. He's fired.

You know, he didn't make the playoffs that year. They hired Dan Quinn and they dedicated, you know,

all of their resources in that draft to defense, to improving the defense. And they use their first

six picks for the first time in franchise history to acquire

defensive players, starting with Michael Parsons.

And it worked.
