Aberdeen, 1958. Thomas Guyane and his wife Margaret had only been married for one year when they moved to a flat, owned by Margaret's grandmother at 14 Jackson Terrace.

The birth of their first son followed in September of that year, and Margaret gave birth to a second boy three years later in February, 1961. Thomas was a merchant seaman and worked away from home for weeks, sometimes months at a time.

The timings of the birth of their second son meant that the child could not have been his

This caused some friction between the couple

and Margaret sought legal advice as she wanted to divorce Thomas

with Thomas and in May moved into Henry's parents' home while they looked for permanent

accommodation. Initially Margaret had taken both of her children with her but her grandmother visited and insisted
