June 4th, 2019 was a beautiful sunny day in northeast Ohio.
0:24.3	Around 5 p.m., two longtime friends, Carnell Sledge, and Kate Brown, arrived at the Rocky River Reservation in Fairview Park, Ohio, which is a 2,500-acre nature preserve.
0:35.3	The meeting appears to have been spur of the moment.
0:38.8	Carnell had plans for a family dinner at his grandmother's house that night, but after work,
0:43.4	instead of driving towards his grandmother's house, he drove in the opposite direction towards
0:48.5	the park to meet with Kate. As for Kate, she had been at the gym and left the gym to meet with him.
0:56.0	After parking at the Rocky River Reservation, the two sat on a bench overlooking the western bank of the Rocky River to talk.
1:03.1	Just a few minutes later, two kayakers passing through the area noticed a body near the park bench.
1:08.9	As the couple walked closer, they discovered Carnell.
1:12.0	He was on the ground and Kate's body was in the water.
1:15.6	Kate had been fatally shot once in the back of the head and Carnell twice.
1:19.9	Kate was just 33 years old and Carnell 40.

1:40.0	Catherine Kate Colby Brown was born October 12, 1985 to parents Kim and Tom Brown in Olmstead Falls, Ohio.
1:47.5	The middle of three daughters, she had an older sister named Lauren and a younger sister named Alex.
1:53.5	Growing up, Kate shared friends and common interests, especially soccer, dance, and music with her older sister, Lauren.
1:59.9	Lauren said Kate was a traditional little
2:01.7	sister, following me around, wanting to trial my clothes, all of those things that little sisters do.
2:08.1	Her friends describe her as lighthearted, goofy, and carefree. Her younger sister Alex said,
2:13.6	You know she was in a good mood by her level of goofiness. Kate graduated from Olmstad Falls
2:19.1	High School in 2004. She attended Bowling Green University and later Cleveland State University.
