Thank you. True Crime Podcast. On Thursday, February 22nd, 2024, 22-year-old Lakin Riley was found murdered on the campus of the University of Georgia.

Lakin's body was discovered at 12.38 p.m. that day in a forested area near the school's

intermural fields. Authorities reveal that Lakin was killed by blunt-forced trauma to her head.

However, the exact cause of death has yet to be revealed. The suspect, 26-year-old

Jose Antonio Ibarra, was arrested by police the following day. According to authorities,

Ibarra illegally immigrated to the United States from Venezuela in 2022. Ibarra has been charged with

malice murder, felony murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, kidnapping, hindering a 911 call, and concealing the death of another.

Lakin was a nursing student at Augusta University. She is remembered as a great friend and a loving daughter.

Paul, I'm looking at the affidavit right now, and there are two counts that I wanted to draw

your attention to so we could help explain to listeners.

And I'll start with this one first, which is that in the offense of aggravated battery,

the affidavit says that he maliciously caused bodily harm to another by seriously disfiguring her body or a member thereof by disfiguring her school. Can you share with us what that might
