Melissa Carroll and this is Murder in the News. So our first story comes out of Raleigh, North Carolina.

Neighbors who lived in the same apartment complex as a woman and her boyfriend, 23-old Michael Buchanan, began to get concerned after they heard

children's screams coming from the couple's apartment regularly.

Some even went down to the front office of the apartment complex to report what they were hearing to which they were told quote we'll look into it

On February 14th, 2019, Torrance, who was not quite two years old yet, was taken to a nearby hospital because he had stopped breathing.

The doctors quickly discovered that Torrance had

suffered a skull fracture and it was determined that this happened when the

toddler was left in the care of Michael Buchanan. Michael was arrested and charged with child abuse and causing serious bodily injury
