In murder in a sundown town, author Alexandra Kitty looks at the shocking 1968 homicide

of Carol Jenkins, a sweet and resilient 21-year-old woman stabbed in the heart on her first day

on the job selling encyclopedias in Martinsville, Indiana.

What seemed to be an easily solved homicide turned into a four-decade cold case and became

a tragic story about racism, sexism, gossip, and walls of silence.

It is a case of injustice and persistence that still leaves as many questions as answers.
