of a small town, were Walter F. Dempsey, a welfare worker and veteran of World War I, his wife, Clara,

and their four sons, Robert, Thomas, Walter Jr. and David. Living in a duplex at 103

Goodway, the Dempsey's were, by all accounts, a normal, happy, and typical suburban family

who attended St. Teresa Church and enjoyed the lives that they had made for themselves in the
