It seems we've been inundated in the last couple years with shocking stories of teachers exploiting children sexually.

We see a lot of headlines about male teachers exploiting female students,

female teachers exploiting male students.

I've never in my 44-year career have seen so many of these cases come to light.

And it's gotten to the point where we're actually discussing

a documentary on why this has become such an epidemic across the country. But recently,

a case was settled for a record amount in Chicago. And there was a criminal prosecution as well. The case involves

the Dean of Discipline and a teacher named Brian Crowder, who was at the Little Village

Lawndale High School. And the allegations are absolutely shocking. That he groomed and had a sexual relationship with a student,

an underage student, a female student, for more than two years. And recently, the Chicago Public

School Board announced and approved a $17.5 million settlement in this case.

Crowder himself is now facing 22 years in prison. That's his sentence. And the two lawyers,

or two of the lawyers who handled the case for the victim are Martin Gould and Bryce Hensley,

who joined me now to talk about this shocking case.

In this case, we're talking about a young woman who was first approached in the cafeteria of the school

by Brian Crowder. And the conversation starts with, well, give me your social media,

give me your Snapchat. How quickly does this grooming proceed from there? Well, the way it proceeded in this case was that he eventually obtained her Snapchat, and it slowly started with him sending out what were perceived as group messages.

Nothing specific to the minor student, just messages that he seemed to be sending out to a number of individuals

until eventually he began targeting her more personally, individually.
