Hi, I'm Sonia.

I'm an alcoholic.

My sobriety date is April 23rd, 2012.

I just celebrated six years of sobriety.

And just recently moved here from Philadelphia about three and a half weeks ago.

And, man, if I was unsure of my character defects, like moving across the country has definitely,

like, you know, thrown fertilizer on the whole problem.

And, you know, when I was growing up, I never thought that,

when I was drinking, I'll say, I never thought I had a problem with alcohol. I thought if you had my life story, you would drink like me too.

And, you know, I was abandoned as a baby and I was left as an infant on the steps of an orphanage, and I was taken in the orphanage in Jordan, and I ended up staying there for

about six to seven months before I was adopted and brought to the U.S.

And for a long time, I thought that's why I was an alcoholic.

I was abandoned, like, you know, cormy.

And I didn't look at the fact that I had been blessed with an opportunity to come here and have a lot in my life, you know.

But I didn't see it that way.

And I grew up with a wonderful, wonderful mother and a horribly, verbally and mentally abusive father who suffers from mental illness.

And for a long time, I thought that's why I was an alcoholic.
