and i'm an alcoholic but today i love being sober i love being able to live my life life sober and I love that I found a way to live sober, you know, and if you're new, and you're anything like me when I first got here and you've just heard me say that, you know, God, that bloke's an idiot, do you know what I mean? How's that that going to happen because that's what my head was like

you know I mean I just sit in meetings and I would hear um like we carry the message of alcoholics

anonymous and I would hear people and I used to think he said that the other day he said that the

other day about getting a sponsor was saying it again for you know what I mean that's what my

head was like you know what I mean it's like, and I was sitting group consciences as well,

and I can't remember what it was, but we had a group conscience, and the group were talking

about making amends for something that happened with this other group, and I'd just put my

hand up and said, we don't need to make amends, it needed to be said, do you know what I mean,

and it's like, that's what I was right. Just not a clue.

But, you know, discipline for me, for my recovery had to come from within me, you know,

because I'm an alcoholic that Brooks no control for man or God, and nobody, nobody can give me that discipline.

The discipline, and it still does today, I mean, my sobriety date is the 24th of September 1996, so 29 years of September.

But the discipline has to come from me with me.

You know, when I asked my sponsor to sponsor me, because

that's what I had to do. I heard people talking about getting a sponsor as well. I said,

I was just saying, now again, you know? I had to, you know, when I asked my sponsor to sponsor

me, I meant business. I was saying to him, show me how you stay sober, you know, the other old timers that were here as well, like John and Alexis and David Kaye, you know, and I, you know, it was, I wanted what was an offer in Alcoholics Anonymous, and it really is as simple as that, you know, I had to quit all the, did I want to recover? Did I want to recover? And that's what I say to

people who I sponsor today, you know, I mean, if you are willing to go to any lengths,

if you want what's on offer here in AA, then you will get it, you will get it, you know what I
