Hi, I'm John, I'm alcoholic, I'd like to thank Wayne for asking me to speak tonight,

very grateful to be up here, it is an honor.

Just started drinking when I was 15, grew up outside of New York and alcohol did for me

what it talks about and promises in the ninth step, page 83, 84.

I knew a new freedom and a new happiness, I didn't regret the past, I certainly thought

everything I had to say could help others.

It all lit me up, it lit me up from the very first time I got buzzed, I loved it, it made

me feel cool, it made me feel interesting, it made me feel like somebody I wanted to

be around and I don't know if there's anything particularly wrong with me as a child, I

don't really think there was, I just logged down call, I loved the way it made me feel.

So I was a binge drinker through my late teens, didn't ever really get into a lot of trouble.

My drinking accelerated in my 20s and it got bad and we all sort of know what that looks

like when it gets bad.

I landed in A.A. in New York City in February of 1999, broken and I mean I was the kind of

drinker who had sit at home watching the history channel drinking a bottle of absolute vodka

out of a chip wine glass from the freezer and popping some other prescriptions throughout

that process.
