My name's David.

I'm an alcoholic.

I'm terrified tonight.

I don't know why, but this is a new meeting for me.

So this is not my normal Saturday night meeting and I love routine.

So yeah, and it's really ironic because I live a few blocks from here and I always complain

about how there are never any meetings in Amriville because there aren't and this is so close.

It's not Amriville, but it almost is.

So yeah, it's really good to be here and thank you Cassie for asking me to speak tonight.

Yeah, so and it's funny being in a Methodist church because my dad was a United Methodist

minister for 45 years and he's retired now still, he's still living with my mother.

My mom was just put in assisted living and so there have been some life challenges lately.

And they were living apart now for the first time in 68 years.

So it's a little weird there, 91 and 92, so but I didn't drink over that and that is kind

of a miracle.

Since I'm speaking first and briefly, I kind of thought it would be symbolic, I guess,

since I'm at the beginning of the meeting to talk about my beginning sobriety.
