We have two speakers today each sharing a little of their story, first we have Alex who got sober in 2006 as the opening 10 min speaker. Alex is followed by Rowbie who got sober in 1986, they are speaking at the North Oakland AA Open speaker meeting held every Saturday in Oakland California. This meeting is from 2001. My sobriety date is February 7th, 2006, my home group is in San Jose, Costa Rica and

I move around a lot.

So I've had sobriety experiences from Chile up through the Americas, up to Asia.

And I guess two things are uncommon and one is the illness, the alcoholism, the addiction

I don't see much of a difference, it's just one form and the other, but I belong to

multiple 12 step groups and oh, I've got a lot of work to do.

And the other part that's in common is the 12 steps, the recovery, the program of recovery.

And what we have in common, unfortunately, is that it's a program that's available to

all of us and we get guides to walk us through it, to teach us, to help us get better, but

sadly, throughout the world, we don't work them.

They're the spiritual toolkits that are later at our feet and we say, yeah, but now I know.
