I'm Peter Alexander, and President Biden just wrapped up an event in Cleveland,

touting his administration's efforts to focus on the economy.

But with the president's poll numbers falling, notably absent from today's appearance, they're both the

Democratic nominee for Senate and governor in that state. President Biden's trip comes as he faces

renewed pressure for members of his own party to respond to Americans increasing anger and their

frustration about their finances, their safety, and the direction of this country. Just 10% of Americans

right now think the U.S. is on the right track compared to 88% who say the country's headed

in the wrong direction. That's according to a recent poll by Monmouth. And Americans' confidence

in our institutions from the Supreme Court to the presidency all down from a year ago. A quick look at

today's headlines, and you can see the anger that's emerging. Democrats wanting more from

the president on guns and abortion, and they question whether he is capable of meeting this

moment. As the Washington Post sums it up, Democratic criticisms of Biden get louder and broader.

Just last month when President Biden acknowledged that, quote, people are really, really down.
