I'm Kristen Welker in Washington, where the issue of policing in this country is once again center stage following demonstrations over the weekend over the fatal beating of Tyree Nichols by Memphis police officers. Today, police confirmed that a sixth officer has been relieved of duty for his involvement in the incident. So far, that officer Preston Hemphill has not been fired

or charged with a crime. That comes after hundreds of protesters gathered in Memphis this weekend

to peacefully voice their anger and grief over the death of Tyree Nichols, the 29-year-old man who was

horrifically beaten by five. Now, former police officers at a traffic stop earlier this month.

The video released on Friday night showed how officers stopped Nichols,

tased and pepper sprayed him, then hit, punched, kick, and struck him with their batons.

Officers beat Nichols long after the video appears to show him incapacitated,

and there was an excruciatingly

long delay before first aid was provided. On Saturday, protesters continued to call for accountability,
