If it's Friday, policing in America, once again in the spotlight as Memphis mourns the death of Tyree Nichols and braces for the release of police body camera footage that family members, lawyers, the police chief, the head of the FBI, are all calling horrific.

We're going to begin with the latest out of Memphis as the city and the country brace for the release of body camera footage that's going to show the traffic stop and beating of Tyree Nichols by five now former police officers who have been

charged with second degree murder. The video is scheduled to be released to the public at 7 p.m.

Eastern tonight. Nichols was 29 years old, an avid skateboarder, was a father. He worked for FedEx,

big part of the Memphis fabric, by the way, and was remembered as a near

perfect son by his mother. On January 7th, police initiated a traffic stop on Nichols. He was

subsequently beaten, and he would die in the hospital three days later. Details about what actually

happened in the incident have been

very slow to be disclosed by officials. But here's what we do know at this time. As I mentioned,

those five former police officers were charged yesterday with second-degree murder and at least six

other assault-related charges, including aggravated kidnapping. All of them are out on bail. We've heard from Memphis

police chief, C.J. Davis, that officers violated their training during this interaction with Nichols.

They used excessive force, and they did not provide adequate first aid. Davis told my colleague

Tom Yamis today that the officer's actions were quote outside of humanity that's

right completely next level completely outside of you know humanity i'm not even going to say training

i mean humanity um the the mindset you know and the reason why I think there is an analogy to Rodney King here
