hit Turkey and Syria overnight, images out of the region today show damaged towns, collapsed buildings, and people,

including young children being rescued from the rubble.

The death count has now surpassed 3,000 people across the two countries.

More than 10,000 more have been injured.

We expect those numbers to rise amid ongoing search and rescue operations.

This was the strongest quake turkey has felt in over 80 years. 7.8 magnitude. It hit just after 4 a.m. while many were

asleep. The epicenter of the quake was only 20 miles from a major city that is home to over 2 million

people and just 30 miles from Syria's northern border.

Another 7.5 magnitude quake hit nearby just a few hours later.
