If it's Monday, the U.S. has now shot down four high-altitude objects inside North American

airspace in just eight days in unprecedented and largely unexplained string of incidents

that has lawmakers on edge and demanding answers. Plus, the 2024 presidential field is about

to expand as a class of emerging candidates jockeys for position against former President Trump with the future of the party and the country on the line.

And miraculous rescues in Turkey as more people are pulled from the rubble a full week after those devastating earthquakes as conditions grow more dire and desperate by the minute.

Welcome to meet the press now. I'm Kristen Welker in Washington, where we begin today with growing questions about more high-altitude objects flying over U.S. airspace.

This afternoon, a spokesperson for the White House's national security team telling reporters the administration was not actively tracking any suspicious high-altitude objects today.

It comes after the Biden administration confirmed it shot down two more unidentified

objects over the weekend, one over the Yukon, Canada, and a second over Lake Huron,

bringing the total number of objects shot down to four in just over a week.

cylindrical, while the one over Lake Huron was described as octagon shaped with strings hanging off.

Both flew at a much lower altitude than the Chinese spy balloon and were posing a risk to civil

aviation. But there is still a lot we don't know about these objects. We don't know where these

objects came from. We don't know if they're state-owned or commercial. We don't know what their

purpose is and we don't know whether or not they pose a threat to U.S. national security.

As of this afternoon, U.S. officials have not yet recovered what was shot down in these most recent incidents.

And today, the administration could offer really little in terms of new information,

but did say there was no indication of extraterrestrial activity.
